George S. Mayes, Jr.
Title: Executive Vice President, Global Operations

George Mayes was appointed executive vice president of global operations in April 2008.  He is responsible for maximizing efficiency, quality and customer delivery throughout the company's global operational footprint. In addition to leading Diebold's worldwide manufacturing and supply chain operations, Mayes has responsibility for the company's global IT, hardware and software quality assurance, and key elements of financial self-service development. His focus is on driving lean practices into the company's day-to-day processes across its global operations, and is accountable for improving the efficiency, profitability and execution in all customer-facing systems and processes within Diebold's global operations.

Mayes joined Diebold in 2005. Prior to joining the company, he served as chief operating officer and a member of the board of directors at Tinnerman Palnut Engineered Products, LLC. Mayes was also employed at Stanley Works as vice president of operations for Stanley fastening systems.  He has extensive experience in lean manufacturing and Six Sigma processes and has managed plants in Canada, Mexico, France, Hungary, Brazil, China, Poland, Italy and the United States.

Mayes began his manufacturing career at General Motors, where he spent 15 years in manufacturing, quality and engineering.  During this period, he served as director of manufacturing, Mexico, for Delphi operations; and director, operations, for Delphi Thermal division in Buffalo, N.Y. 

Prior to his professional manufacturing career, Mayes held the rank of Captain in the United States Army from 1983-1985. Currently, Mayes serves on the board of directors for the Manufacturing Advocacy & Growth Network (MAGNET). Mayes is a native of Orange, N.J.  He holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
