James L.M. Chen was appointed senior vice president of the Asia Pacific and EMEA regions for Diebold, Incorporated in September 2006. He is responsible for sales and service in Diebold's AP and EMEA regions, overseeing operations, several production facilities, joint ventures, subsidiaries and distribution channels.

Chen joined Diebold in 1998 as corporate vice president and managing director, Asia Pacific, based in Shanghai.  During his 10 years with Diebold, Chen transitioned Diebold’s AP business from a 20-year history of partnerships with other companies to a direct business operation.  Chen has significantly expanded Diebold’s business in the AP region, spearheading the introduction of advanced self-service solutions in the area.

Prior to joining Diebold, Chen was general manager, business electronics at Philips Electronics China in Beijing. In addition, he spent 14 years with NCR, Corporation in a variety of management positions in the Asia Pacific region, including managing director of NCR’s Chinese subsidiary.

Chen was born in Taipei, Taiwan.  He received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from the National Chengchi University in Taipei, Taiwan.
