João Abud, Jr. was appointed president of Diebold's Brazilian division in April 2003. He oversees all of Diebold’s business in Brazil.
During his time as president of the Brazilian division, he has developed and maintained a diversified line of products in Brazil, including voting systems, lottery systems, healthcare systems, branch teller automation and others. Abud began the integrated services business which provides sophisticated management of customers' operations, significantly growing the revenue and profitability of Diebold's services in Brazil. He joined Procomp Amazonia Industria Electronica, S.A. in 1988 as marketing and sales director. Diebold acquired Procomp in October 1999.
Abud is a native of Igarapava, Brazil. He received a bachelor’s and master’s degree in engineering and systems engineering, respectively, from the University of São Paulo, Brazil. Abud has also completed executive education programs at the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia and the Kelly School of Business at the Indiana University in Bloomington, Ind.
