NORTH CANTON, Ohio,
Oct. 1 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ --
In recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October,
Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE: DBD) is ramping up its "Partners in Pink" campaign to increase awareness about breast cancer and raise funds for
Susan G. Komen for the Cure Northeast Ohio.
Led by Diebold Premier Services(®), Diebold's nationwide service organization, the campaign's core focus is selling pink vacuum air tube (VAT) carriers to customers with Diebold and competitors' drive-thru systems. In the month of October, Diebold service technicians across the nation are striving to sell as many pink VAT carriers as possible to raise money for Komen Northeast Ohio.
One dollar from the sale of each carrier will be donated to the
Northeast Ohio chapter of the Komen organization to aid research for a breast cancer cure and fund outreach and screening programs.
"Diebold has been a Komen partner in
Northeast Ohio for more than a year now and our community has already benefited greatly from this program," said
Sophie Sureau, executive director for Komen Northeast Ohio. "Not only do the pink products raise awareness about breast cancer and the importance of early detection, but a portion of the proceeds donated to Komen also contributes to pay for free mammograms for women in need and to find a cure for the disease."
"We are excited and honored to be a part of the ongoing efforts to support breast cancer research, and we understand the importance of community support for such a cause," said
David Bucci, senior vice president, customer solutions group, Diebold. "It is our goal to blanket the country with pink VAT carriers, and to help spread awareness of the leading cause of death among women, with the hope that every Diebold pink VAT carrier sold will bring the world one step closer to finding a cure for breast cancer."
