Welcome to the March edition of the Diebold Media Tip Sheet

The Diebold Media Tip Sheet was created for media contacts that follow or are interested in news from Diebold, Incorporated (NYSE:DBD). This monthly e-publication is intended to provide information about the latest events and happenings from Diebold’s self-service, security and service operations around the world.

150th anniversary: The world’s largest vault took 47 rail cars to deliver
In 1874, Diebold began building the biggest vault the world had ever seen. The customer was a San Francisco safe deposit company. Diebold won the contract against a dozen other bidders. The price tag: US$100,000. It took months to complete the vault.

Diebold constructed a precision-crafted bank vault—measuring 27 feet wide, 32 feet long and 12 feet high— containing 4,600 safe deposit boxes. Altogether, it weighed more than 350,000 pounds. All work was done to the highest standards of the day. Exacting tolerances. A triple door system with the outer door being fire-resistive and the two inner doors burglar-resistive. When done, it would take a special train of 47 rail cars to transport the vault in sections from Canton, Ohio, to the customer on the West Coast.

Missoula Federal Credit Union selects Diebold 220 Express Cash Dispensers
Missoula Federal Credit Union, based in Missoula, Mont., began using teller cash dispensers in 2001 to enable employees to focus on member service and satisfaction. These cash dispensers also enabled the credit union to improve teller accuracy and reduce the amount of time spent getting cash from the vault. However, the credit union experienced recurring preventative maintenance issues with these machines.
As it sought a reliable partner to provide quality solutions and services, its satisfaction with Diebold’s work on ATM and security equipment became a forefront influence in its decision to purchase Diebold’s 220 Express Cash Dispensers. “We looked at a lot of other vendors, but we felt that Diebold was the way to go,” said Roxanne Roehl, senior vice president, Missoula FCU. “We have a comfort level with Diebold and its products and services.”

Diebold’s express cash dispensers offer touch-screen capabilities, and have the highest note-capacity levels in the industry— holding up to 14,000 multi-denominational notes. Through Diebold’s security and teller optimization capabilities, Missoula is pleased with Diebold’s reliable service and expertise. Read more about Missoula FCU’s experience with Diebold’s 220 Express Cash Dispensers. For more information, contact DeAnn Zackeroff at 330.490.5220.

Diebold installs first RemoteTeller Systems in Central America
When The Financial Group BAC signed an agreement with PriceSmart, a membership warehouse club serving Central America and the Caribbean, to install bank branches at select stores in Costa Rica, it needed a solution using as little space as possible. It also needed to provide the ability to serve two to three customers at the same time, while keeping the costs of security low. To assist, it turned to Diebold.

In response, Diebold offered its RemoteTeller System, an idea that was quickly adopted by BAC. During a three-month period, Diebold installed nine RemoteTeller Systems in three
stores in the San Jose area, with plans to install additional units in a new superstore.

“This is a very important project because this is the first installation of RemoteTeller Systems in Central America,” said José Ardon, general manager, Central America, Diebold. “We have been very successful in cementing a relationship with BAC because we both share the value of innovation – BAC likes to differentiate its services with innovation, and Diebold delivers. We expect this trend to continue in future years, and expand it to other banks.” For more information, contact
